Claudino Matos
Holds a Phd degree in animal sciences with specialization in animal breeding and genetics. He joined the Association in 2006 and, among other duties assisting the board of directors, he is is charge with the breeding and conservation program of the Campaniça breed of sheep, is responsible for the coordination of R&D projects. He has large experience in the coordination of national and international projects. He represents ACOS in the board of directors of CEBAL ? Centro de Biotecnologia Agrícola e Agro-Alimentar do Alentejo. Claudino Matos will be the coordinator of the project and is the ultimate responsible for communication with the Alentejo2020 officials.
Helena Monteiro
Is a DVM from University of Lisbon holding a MS degree in animal science. She is the tecnhical director of the Veterinary Laboratory and collaborates in R&D projects. Coprologic analysis will be performed partially in the ACOS Veterinary Laboratory under her supervision in close collaboration with the Department of Veterinary Medicine form University of Évora
Miguel Madeira
Is a DVM from University of Lisbon. He is the head of the animal health department of ACOS and is the coordinator of the Animal Health Defense Association of Beja headquarted in the association. He will facilitate the communication with Assistant Veterinaries of sheep farmers.
João Santos
Holds an Accounting degree and is the responsible for the accounting department of ACOS. He is experienced in managing the administrative component of projects. He will in charge with all the documentation and administrative issues related with the project.
Lino Tábuas
Nasceu na Moita, possui Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade de Évora. Exerceu clínica de animais de produção. Participa em todas as atividades do projeto, nomeadamente na colheita, processamento e armazenamento de todo o tipo de dados/amostras de campo. Colabora em todas as atividades assegurando a ligação entre os diferentes parceiros do projeto. Reporta também ao coordenador do projeto.
Sandra Branco
Is a DVM from University of Lisbon, holds a PhD degree in veterinary medicine. She joined the University in 1996 and she is responsible for the pathology laboratory of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Evora University since 1999, performing autopsy, diagnosis by histopathology and cytopathology. Sandra Branco joined the Board of the Portuguese society of Animal Pathology from May 2007 to May 2011. Currently, Assistant Professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, School of Science and Technology, University of Évora.
Elisa Bettencourt
Was born in Serpa, Alentejo where begins to work as veterinarian large animals practioner. She is a DVM from University of Lisbon, 1994, holding a MS degree in animal science, 1999, and a PhD degree in veterinary medicine, 2009. She joined the University in 1999 and she is responsible for Large animals clinics of Veterinary teaching Hospital of Evora University. Ludovina Padre
Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1991, from the Higher Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, Bulgaria. MsC in 1995 and PhD in 2004 in Veterinary Science in the field of Helminthology Tropical, both awarded degrees Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (current ULisboa). Currently, Assistant Professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, School of Science and Technology, University of Évora. Responsible for courses, Veterinary Parasitology I and II, Pathology and Clinic of Parasitic Diseases I and II of the MSc in Veterinary Medicine. In addition to the work it has developed in the field of parasitic zoonoses, in close collaboration with University of Eduardo Modlane, Mozambique. Its expertise in the area of ??gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) has been reflected in the interest in the study of the relation parasite / host, including the assessment of the response of small ruminants to infection by EGI. Evaluation of resistance levels to GIN by two national races sheep, dynamic study of infection in young animals and monitoring the response to infection by goats in peri-partum period, are representative works of the studies that have carried out, some of the which with results presented in Congress and scientific meetings. As an advocate of a type of integrated and sustainable control, it has also conducted studies "in vitro" to evaluate the anthelmintic action of plants and their derivatives.
Pedro Henriques
Was born in the Madeira Island, Portugal, is an Engineer in Agronomy by the Technical University of Lisbon, with a Master and a PhD in Agricultural Economics by the Ohio State University and the University of Reading, respectively. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Évora, Portugal. His main research interests are in the field of agricultural and resource economics and policies. He has participated in several conferences, seminars and research projects on these issues and in cooperation programmes for development, especially with Angola and East Timor. The main interests are agricultural efficiency; water policy and human rights; land, gender and development.
Ricardo Romão
Is a DVM from University of Lisbon, holding a MS degree in animal science and PhD degree in veterinary medicine. He joints University in 1999, He collaborates in large animal?s clinics and surgery at Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Evora University. Currently, Assistant Professor of the Department of Animal Science, School of Science and Technology, University of Évora.
António Marcos Ramos
Holds a Phd in Animal Breeding and Genetics and is Principal Investigator and leader of the Animal Genomics and Bioinformatics Group at CEBAL. He has large experience in research projects at the academic and industry levels, in both animal and plant genetics and genomics. He has participated in 20 and 63 research projects at the academic and industry levels, respectively, funded by different agencies, companies and mechanisms in Portugal, the European Union and the United States.
Research interests include animal and plant breeding genetics and genomics, including bioinformatics, biostatistics and molecular genetics, focusing on the application of bioinformatics tools for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data, to decipher the genetic regulation of complex traits of economic importance in animals and plants. He is author/co-author of 2 international patents, 2 book chapters, 29 papers in peer-reviewed journals (H-index 14, i10-index 18, 860 citations) and 63 conference presentations. He has considerable experience in supervision of Undergraduate, Master, PhD and PostDoc students, for a total of 11 supervisions (5 in progress). He has also served as referee of several scientific journals. António Marcos participation in the project is crucial for its suscess.
Nuno Carolino
Is PhD in Animal Sciences. He is Portuguese Focal Point for Animal Genetic Resources in FAO and responsible for animal genetic resources, genetics and animal improvement in INIAV. He is specialized in animal breeding and genetics and has experience in developing R&D projects. He is activity as invited professor in Veterinary Medicine.
Carlos Bettencourt
Is a DVM holding a MS and a Phd in Veterinary Sciences. He is specialized in the field of Reproduction and his teaching skills are in Teriogenology and Farm Animal clinics. He is the head of the centre and has large experience in developing R&D projetcs both at national and international level.
